Bulog Ready to Absorb 3 Million Tons of Farmers' Unhusked Rice at a Minimum Price of Rp 6,500

22 May 2025

Ngawi - The National Logistics Agency (BPN) has stated its readiness to carry out the National Food Agency's assignment to absorb 3 tons of rice equivalent or unhusked rice from farmers at a minimum price of Rp 6,500/kg. In carrying out this task, Bulog will be assisted by the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and other parties, including farmers.

Bulog Deputy President Director Marga Taufiq stated that Bulog cannot work alone. According to him, Bulog has so far focused on maintaining rice warehouses, which has limited human resources.

"As stated by the Head of the National Food Agency (Bapannas), as the regulator, Bulog has been tasked with absorbing 3 million tons of rice equivalent. And Bulog cannot work alone, because its focus has been on maintaining warehouses. We have a small number of personnel," said Marga at the #DemiIndonesiaPangan event on Monday (March 3, 2025).

"Therefore, we would also like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude because in the implementation, we will be assisted by our colleagues from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), our colleagues from the police, our colleagues from the regional government, our colleagues from the Ministry of Agriculture, our colleagues from Bulog partners, and of course, our colleagues from the farmers," he said.

Marga also stated that his team would carry out this task by complying with the government-set price. He also believes that the minimum price of unhusked rice of IDR 6,500/kg will motivate farmers to increase their production.

"Hopefully, we can carry out our task of absorbing 3 million tons well and still provide the government-set minimum price of IDR 6,500. This will motivate farmers to increase their production," he concluded.

Langgeng Wisnu A, Regional Head of Bulog for East Java, expressed similar sentiments. He expressed his commitment to fulfilling the task of purchasing up to 3 million tons of unhusked rice at a price of IDR 6,500.

"The government, through Bulog, is ready to purchase 3 million tons of rice equivalent at a minimum price of Rp 6,500. Second, a fair price. The Coordinating Minister has instructed all of us, including the President, that prices can remain the same or even decrease, except for the price of dry harvested grain (GKP)," he said.

The #DemiIndonesiaPangan event was attended by Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, ministers under the Coordinating Ministry for Food, the Governor of East Java, the Regent of Ngawi, stakeholders, and the Ngawi Regency community.

The event, held on March 3, 2025, at Pangkur Field, Pangkur District, began at 8:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time and was broadcast live on detikcom.

As is known, the Prabowo administration established the Coordinating Ministry for Food to achieve food independence and security, while also serving as a driving force in promoting sustainable economic growth.

The Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs announced a budget allocation of IDR 139.4 trillion to support the food self-sufficiency program by 2025. The funds will be used for various strategic programs designed to improve national food security.

Zulkifli Hasan, as Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, plays a crucial role in collaborating with other relevant ministries and agencies to realize this innovative dream, as Indonesia's abundant agricultural potential can be maximized.

To this end, detikcom is collaborating with the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs, the Ngawi Regency Government, farmers, and the Logistics Agency (Bulog) to organize #DemiIndonesiaPangan (For Food Independence). This program is a major step towards achieving food self-sufficiency and a celebration involving all Indonesians.
